Biking and Hiking in Fernie
The Fernie Alpine Ski Resort is converted every summer allowing
for full terrain mountain biking and hiking. Bikes are hooked onto the
chairlifts and all runs are groomed and trailed for all levels of bikers to
enjoy a safe experience. Bike rentals are available at the base and in retail
outlets in town. Lifts are also open into the high alpine to allow visitors to
explore spectacular terrain and wildlife on foot. Guided tours are also
available.

signature Champion Golf Course. This is wonderful news, even though Fernie is
home to an exceptional 18-hole golf course at present. Fernie is also only a 45

Lakes, lakes and more lakes!
In under an hours drive, you can be resting on the sandy shores
of a number of lakes south of Fernie. Lake Kookanusa is an 80 mile long water
reserve that drains each winter that leaves sandy shores, deep fresh aqua
coloured water and water temperatures of 80 degrees. This lake is only a 40
minute drive from Fernie, situated in the arid “banana belt” of the Kootenays.
Other lakes to explore include Tie Lake and Wasa Lake for camping,
water-skiing, fishing, boating and house-boating.

Just 300 meters from your door is the world-renowned Elk River.
Known throughout the world for it’s fly -fishing, it is right at your doorstep.
